Dean Reuben Brigety, II will engage students and faculty to discuss "America, Heal Thyself: Political Polarization the rebuilding of American Soft Power"
Abstract: "Soft power - or the ability to attract other nations to emulate our example in supportof our interests - is an intangible yet vital component of American diplomatic capacity. The increasing political polarization in the United States over the last two decades, and its impact the functioning of American political institutions, harms American soft power. It undermines the attractiveness of the U.S. democratic model and hinders the willingness of interlocutors around the world to support American objectives."
