The musicians of the University of Memphis Syphonic Band will present their second concert of the Spring semester on Monday, April 16, 2018. The concert is in the Michael D. Rose Theater at 7:30 PM in the heart of the University of Memphis Campus.
The concert, titled "Points of Intersection," is a exploration of music inspired by other disciplines. The compositions are examples of music's intersection with technology, visual art, photography, biology, poetry, architecture, and literature. The concert will include guest conductors, Dr. Ryan Fisher and graduate student Patrick Sweten, and we will perform Norman Dello Joio's "Scenes from the Louvre" and Frank Ticheli's "Earth Song" and "Angels in the Architecture." Additionally, we will perform the regional premieres of three compositions: Benjamin Taylor's "Techno Blade" and Roger Zare's "Water Bear Jig" and "December Lullaby."
We hope that you will join us for the concert and celebrate the hard work of our fantastic student musicians.
