University of Utah Health’s Nurse Midwives invite you to attend a free birth doula workshop for those interested in volunteering-no previous experience needed!
What is a birth doula?
A person who assists a woman before, during, and after childbirth by providing physical, emotional and informational support. Volunteer doulas meet with mothers otherwise unable to pay for the care of doulas, after they are admitted to the hospital floor and assist them during their labor.
The Birth Partner by Penny Simkin is required reading for the volunteer doulas. If possible, please read by the date of the workshop.
