The annual Percussion and Moving Light Lab concert performances are Friday April 13 and Saturday April 14 at 7:30pm in the Black Box Theatre at UNLV.
This year’s concerts feature an incredible steel pan artist, Jonathan Scales, along with the UNLV Rebel Steel band. The steel band program has grown and become quite an amazing performing ensemble in the year under the direction of Luc Brust. This performance also precedes the Rebel Steel debut album being recorded in the UNLV recording studio in the weeks following these concerts. The band is performing at its best right now, so you don’t want to miss this! The program is rounded out by a diverse percussion ensemble showcase of Ted Atkatz’s Chaos to Creation, Aurel Hollo’s Jose beFORE John 5, Bob Becker’s Mudra, and a mass Marimba Band performance of Rhythm Song (with composer Paul Smadbeck in attendance). State of the art lighting design, directed by Eric Haufschild, and special effects compliment the entire production.
Tickets are $10 and $8 (concession) from the UNLV Performing Arts Center. For more information visit: https://www.unlv.edu/event/unlv-music-rebel-steel?delta=0
We hope to see you there!
