The Night Gardener is a singer-songwriter / alternative folk solo act from Berlin, Germany. Usually heavy on effects, every now and then purely acoustic, the 33-year-old plays richly dynamic concerts. In a moving and intimate, yet powerful way, his writing touches the themes of identity, escapism, defeat, love and healing. His current album "These Are The Parts" traces that journey, from the first wound to finding the antidote.
For all those who love the music of Damien Rice, Glen Hansard, Leonard Cohen, Julien Baker or Gregory Alan Isakov, and for many other people.
Byrdman is one of musical projects of Berlin-based guitarist and singer/songwriter Simon Daniels. He started to write the first songs for this project in summer 2013, trying first steps on stage in spring 2014 leading to the recording of his first EP Hollowfield/ Eastern named after the place where the first songs gained shape. The five songs were recorded predominantly live in a cosy studio in Hamburg reflecting the spontaneous energy the three musicians set free in those five days dressing his otherwise solo performed songs in a complete new garment.
His music draws inspiration from contemporary singer/ songwriters' melancholy, struggeling with the complex poetry of the early Dylan and the vagueness of Justin Vernon's associative metaphors while never neglecting the rich history of his instrument the guitar, such as the rough and bluesy sounds of the Delta or the orchestral playing of Hendrix.
