The winners of the vocal area of the annual Concerto and Aria Competition will perform accompanied by the UTSA Orchestra. Dr. Eugene Dowdy conducts the ensemble as it performs "Glitter and Be Gay" from Candide sung by Ashley Logan (soprano), Dvorak's "Song to the Moon," from Rusalka as performed by Isabelle Garza (soprano), and Franz Schubert's Unfinished Symphony.

A highlight of this performance will be a special feature by San Antonio area composer Charlie Hill. The UTSA Orchestra will perform his work entitled The Missions, in a world-premiere of the symphony orchestra setting of this piece. The Missions was commissioned in honor of the collection of five 18th Century Spanish Missions along the San Antonio River designated in 2015 a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The UTSA Orchestra offers this performance in celebration of the city of San Antonio's Tricentennial in 2018.
