Songkran; Thai New Year, is celebrated on April 13th for 3 days in the north of Thailand. The word “Songkran” comes from Sanskrit language which means move or change.
On April 13th, Thai will clean their houses, sprinkle water on Buddha images, palm watering to pay respect and wash away the bad luck by splashing water. Most Thai people go back to their hometowns to meet their elders.
UWCT will celebrate Songkran as follows:
-Thursday 5th April ECC Songkran Period 1-2 in ECC Garden
-Friday 6th April G1-G5 Songkran Period 2 (0910-1000)
-Friday 6th April G6-G12 Songkran Period 6 (1340-1430) Songkran
-Whole School Water Splash: Friday 6th April from 1430-1530 near the Pirate ship
(CCAs will be canceled on this day and ECAs will run as normal.)
What to wear: Colourful/Flowery Songkran T-Shirt or Thai Material. Please wear a school appropriate outfits.
Bring your own water container. (Water Guns, metal containers and water balloons are NOT permitted).
