FACT: Black women are not only 4 times more likely to experience death during the childbearing year, but also have an even greater likelihood of experiencing a 'near miss,' an episode that was potentially life threatening.
We will discuss
- how Black women, both historically and today, fall victim to medical
experimentation especially around reproduction and contraceptive therapies
- what systemic racism in healthcare looks like as Black women experience it
- strategies and recommendations for addressing trauma and inequity through
policy, institutional culture, and structural behavioral changes.
