The Incidental Trio returns to Fridays in the Valley on March 9 to perform Mozart’s elegant “Kegelstatt” Trio in Eb and Eric Ewazen’s Trio for Clarinet, Viola and Piano, which ranges from passionate to lushly lyrical to a rockin’, drivin’ dance in 7/8. In 2000, Karen Hansen and Steve Staruch waxed longingly about the beautiful music for clarinet, viola and piano and formed a trio in Northfield with pianist Theo Wee to perform that repertoire, incidentally as jobs arose. Pianist Sue Ruby joined the trio after Karen and Steve and their spouses moved to the Twin Cities. And the incidents just keep coming, with the trio performing for the Schubert Club, MacPhail Center for Music, Crooners Lounge, Thursday Musical, Fridays in the Valley, Church of Christ the King, Presbyterian Church of the Apostles and the Saint Paul Piano Teachers Association.
As always, Fridays in the Valley concerts are FREE and open to the public.
