We don't know where we'll be yet on this day but we can guarantee that we will be doing something special to celebrate the AREPA!
WHAT IS AN AREPA??
"The arepa is a flat, round, unleavened patty of soaked, ground kernels of corn, or—more frequently nowadays—corn meal or corn flour that can be grilled, baked, fried, boiled or steamed. The characteristics vary by color, flavor, size, and the food with which it may be stuffed, depending on the region. It can be topped or filled with meat, eggs, tomatoes, salad, cheese, shrimp, or fish depending on the meal." -Wikipedia
WHAT MAKES VAMOS! AREPAS DIFFERENT?
Our arepas are handmade using whole corn kernels versus corn flour. Each and every arepa is formed by hand by Chef Nicolas. Whole corn kernels are cooked until soft and then ground into a dough which is then rolled out and cut into circles creating the arepa. Arepas can be cooked on a griddle like a pancake or even deep fried but Vamos! arepas are chargrilled over open flame then topped with sea salt and butter, split open and stuffed.
