Courtnay Mecca is a graduate student of Clinical Nutrition and Integrative Health studying at Maryland University of Integrative Health, currently in the clinical portion of her studies. Integrative nutrition is an evidence-based practice of looking at the whole person: body, mind, and spirit (genetics, sleep, lifestyle, stress, environment) and how it relates to each person and their biochemical individuality. Her coursework has her in the kitchen learning how to prepare foods for healing and optimizing nutrition and the science-backed evidence to support it, in addition to the classroom and clinical learning environment to work with individuals on their wellness journey. Her yoga studies and training gave her the tools to leave a 15-year career in engineering to follow her passion to help individuals find healing through a balanced approach of mind, body and spirit with integrative clinical nutrition. The integrative model takes into account the root cause and uses targeted nutrition therapy to support a range of conditions, in addition to lifestyle changes (sleep, stress management, relationships, environment, etc.). The combination of yoga, nutrition, and wellness is so intertwined that they cannot be separated. Passionate about food and cooking, yoga and nature, Courtnay is inspired and excited to partner with Bamboomoves Yoga and Veggie Esperanto to bring you this workshop.
