Managing Behaviour for pupils with Down syndrome by Allison Powell
An opportunity to air and share behavioural challenges and strategies for managing them. The session will also look at how targeting communication, self-esteem and social dexterity can help prevent repetitive unwanted behaviours.
Allison Powell has been working as a Advisory Teacher and Trainer in Down syndrome for the past 15 years, predominantly with Ups and Downs Southwest. She now freelances across the UK and has established a reputation for supporting schools in the inclusive provision of Literacy and Differentiation for children with DS. She taught History and English in London Secondary Schools throughout the '90s, before moving to the South West and retraining as a specialist in the inclusion of children with DS in 2001. She is a published writer and journalist.
