This year's Art Explorer's Camp will focus on a different medium each week.
Session 1, Drawing, June 4-8
Come join us for a week of fun and learning, drawing inspiration from Walter Anderson! Students will be introduced to a wide range of concepts including composition, value, proportion, and the seven motifs in order to develop stronger drawing skills. Subject matter will include still-life, nature, and self-portraits. We will use multiple materials for drawing exercises and finished works that will be displayed at the end of the week!
Session 2, Painting, June 11-15
Be part of our colorful community of young artists for a week of painting! Once again, we will use Walter Anderson’s work to inspire creativity. Campers will learn the basics of color theory, composition, and the elements of art. They will create with watercolor, acrylic, mixed-media, and hand-color their very own Walter Anderson print!
Session 3, Sculpture, June 18-22
Let’s create in three dimensions! Students will learn various techniques and materials for building sculptures. Sculpture camp will focus on understanding special awareness through form, proportion, and design. Students will be encouraged to express their individual creativity, while considering the sculpture and ceramics of Walter Anderson.
Session 4, Printmaking, June 25-29
Inspired by the block prints of Walter Anderson, kids will learn how to design and print their own editions. They will explore different printmaking methods including block printing, monoprint, and collagraph. Along with the prints, we will make fine art cards and hand-color a Walter Anderson print from Realizations, the Anderson Family gallery!
