Menopause & Perimenopause can be one of the most trying times in a woman’s life. Many women experience many physiological, hormonal and mood changes during this time. Menopause-related symptoms such as hot flashes, night sweats, fatigue, insomnia, weight gain, agitation, anxiety, and body changes negatively impact the quality of life of women. This workshop will explore what is happening in the body during menopause, but more importantly focus on what you can do to develop an understanding of your body and your needs.

*Education regarding the impacts of hormonal changes on the body structures and functioning including how sex hormones function alongside your thyroid and adrenal hormones

Presentation of this section will be provided by Pharmacist Courtney Junop, owner of the Medicine Shoppe in RUH who is trained in specialty areas including women's health, integrative and nutritional medicine and pharmaceutical compounding.
Physiotherapist Haylie Lashta will present on how menopause and perimenopause impact the body from tissue, to exercise, and impacts from a women's health perspective. Learn about changes that occur regarding the pelvic floor and what is both expected and that can be addressed from a physiotherapy perspective.
Yoga provides tools that offer you support during the challenges of menopause. In the yoga portion of this workshop, you will learn how yoga can help counteract the stress that affects women physically and emotionally during menopause. Tracy Stephensen will lead you through the gentle yoga poses and breathing techniques that can help minimize menopause symptoms and improve your overall well-being.
