The 2018 Dulles Day Festival and Plane Pull is a full day of fun for the entire family. The day starts with the Run the Runway competition in the early morning, the Plane Pull and Kid’s Pull competitions throughout the day, and a whole lot of food, games, exhibitions, and live music in between.
25 Years and Counting
In 1992, Retired Deputy Chief Joe Hurtuk woke up with an idea to raise money for Special Olympics by pitting raw strength against 82 tons of metal. One year later, Plane Pull was born, and 11 teams helped raise $15,000 and started a national phenomenon.
Today, the Dulles Day Festival & Plane Pull has grown into a full day of competition, food, and games raising over $2,000,000 for athletes with intellectual disabilities in Virginia alone.
