Trumpeter Ralph Alessi has played a significant part in some of the best 'new jazz' made in New York over the past 15 years with notable innovators like Steve Coleman, Don Byron, Uri Caine and Jason Moran.

Son of John Coltrane and Alice Coltrane, saxophonist Ravi Coltrane has released six albums as a leader and worked with the likes of Elvin Jones, McCoy Tyner and Jack DeJohnette. He is a co-leader of the Saxophone Summit with Joe Lovano and Dave Liebman.

The band shows a loving respect for the jazz tradition, but also a commitment to take jazz to the next step. This is boiling hot but elegant post-bop, performed by an all-star cast of musicians.
