One of the most exciting, transformative projects of the last decade surely must be the Philharmonic's revitalized Club Orchestra program. Now operating in partnership with three Fort Wayne Community Schools, Club Orchestra is a visionary movement that transforms the lives of children through music; it's a new model for social change. Its mission is to empower children by providing an intensive orchestra-training program that teaches the importance of teamwork, promotes self-confidence, and instills the value of social responsibility.
The Philharmonic currently serves 104 third, fourth, and fifth graders participating in the program at Forest Park Elementary, Waynedale Elementary, and South Wayne Elementary. The Philharmonic hopes to inspire a local movement where musicians, teachers, funders, and fans embrace the program, energizing the community to use the symphony orchestra as a learning template based on rigor, compassion, and joy.
