“When you reach your edge, soften. Soften until you slip through the constraints and can create a new rhythm, a new route, a new release. Water is soft yet powerful. Reach your edge, then soften.” Victoria Erickson
As we enter into a change of season, a cycle of revival and growth, the energy shifts both in nature and within us. Awakening what’s been dormant in the long winter months, the upcoming Yin Yoga workshops will focus on embracing the new and shedding the old to create space for renewal and expansion. Specifically focusing on postures to help stimulate the digestive and detoxification functions of the body.
This lovely, therapeutic Yin yoga evening is suitable for everyone and a perfect compliment to those who partake in dynamic activities / sports or have a busy, active life.
What is Yin?
Based on traditional Chinese medicine. Yin is the opposite of Yang, which is fast, bright, energetic and outward looking. Whilst Yin attributes are slow, dark, passive, soft, reflective, inward looking, autumn/winter and night.
A gentle start with a strong focus on the breath and a grounding, balancing meditation.
Taking time to set up each floor based pose with props/support, we will hold each posture for between 3-5mins to allow the body to fully relax, let go and work on a deeper level. The focus of the workshop will be on opening the hips, shoulders and lengthening the spine. Yin yoga is challenging as the chatter of the mind often takes over. You will learn to be still by focusing on the breath and how to listen to feelings, sensations and emotions in the body.
You will leave feeling grounded, relaxed and easier to let go of negative thoughts and emotions. Finishing with some warming herbal teas and homemade organic chocolate to feelfully nourished.
