After many requests ... MOVE IT! is back.
This is our active escape that mixes everything you need to be a healthy, balanced runner. Remember running is a skill that can be honed and improved, so whether you are just starting out or you’re a seasoned runner who needs to shift to a more intelligent approach to training, this is a half day you can’t miss.
Join us on Saturday 9th June for a day of intelligent movement to help your runner body! This is how we’re going to improve how you move:
RUN PREPARE (9.30-10.15am)
This is a 45min strength and awareness based warm up. Aimed at bringing correct awareness and activation to the hips and deep core, whilst maintaining freedom of movement and better sequencing of activation. This will include elements of interval strength and neuromuscular approaches taken from Feldenkrais and Hanna Somatics.
We are not all at the same place with our running so there will be 2 led groups.
– 5k slower pace
– 10k faster pace
The runs are led by our qualified run leaders Dalia Hawley and Helena Byles.
These are sociable runs, don’t expect to be racing your best pace here, this is about getting out with the new knowledge and feeling you have in your body from the strength preparation.
MINI REFUEL (11.30-11.45am)
You will have time to kick your trainers off and have a post run drink and snack to keep you going through yoga.
One of the worst things you can do after a run is sit down. Keeping your body flowing in an way that creates balance in all the muscles you’ve used will not only stop you tightening up, but will keep the blood flowing allowing for better healing. This session will include some self massage, flow style yoga to help ease out any niggles and open up all those places that get stiff after a run. Please note this is not long deep stretches which can cause more damage to already overused muscles. The session will finish with a fully supported restorative yoga pose, to support opening of the hips in a non aggressive way that allows muscles to soften and stress levels to drop. This will help with the proper digestion of lunch and leave you feeling calm and refreshed from the morning.
REFUEL (1pm onwards)
Lunch is a super tasty and nutritious affair. Freshly prepared foods from our popular in house chef Antony who knows how to cram as much taste and health into a vegetarian meal as you can! This will be served in a ‘help yourself’ style so you can eat as much as you need to properly refuel. You can stay as long or as little as you want once you’ve eaten. Massages available from 1.15pm onwards.
