After successfully introducing the AUDAX BRMs in the coastal Karnataka region, Team WE R Cycling is moving one step further in organising the first ever Flèche Vélocio, for the riders community in this region.

History: The Flèche Vélocio, popularly FLECHE was created in 1947. After the Brevets and the PBP Randonneur, it is the oldest event organized by the AUDAX CLUB PARISIEN. Unlike BRMs, this is a team ride of 24-hours' duration. Teams consist of 3 to 5 bicycles and all members ride together. The number of teams is unlimited. Each team chooses its own start point and its own route. All teams start on early Saturday, and head to the common finish point. At least 360 km must be covered in 24 hours, but the goal is to ride the longest distance possible. Eventually on Sunday morning, teams from all over meet at the finish point, chat and celebrate together.

Spirit of FLECHE: By training together, team members build a strong spirit of friendship. They meet and ride together as often as possible, they learn to go at the same pace, and they share the same goal, ‘to do a team effort’. Such is the ethic of the Flèche Vélocio. Whether achieving or not a high performance, the atmosphere of a 24 hour team ride is an absolutely exceptional experience, and a good opportunity to strengthen relationships between respective clubs and their teams/members.

Date: 21/04/2018

A brief on Fleche format:

Ø The meeting point for this FLECHE organised by team WE R Cycling would be at 10:00am at Summer Sands Beach Resort, Ullal on the banks of Arabian Sea. An ideal place for the teams & the riders to unwind themselves after the 24hour ride. The tired legs can relax by the pool side of the resort or the smashing waves of the Arabian sea!! and the bruised bodies can feast themselves to some chilled beer followed by sumptuous Mangalorean delicacies over the brunch.

Ø Each team is limited to a maximum of five members and a minimum of three members (multi-rider vehicles count as a single member). The number of teams is unlimited.

Ø Teams ride continuously during 24 hours (no rest stop may exceed two hours). All team members ride the whole distance.

Ø Homologation happens only if the team finishes. In a team of 3 all 3 riders must finish.

Ø Each team designs their own route and can start from anywhere.

Ø At least 360 km must be covered during the 24 hours, but the goal is to ride the longest distance possible.

Ø The team captain must submit a proposal to the organiser with detailed route but it must finish at Summer Sands Beach Resort, Ullal. The organizer verifies the schedule and determines the controls along the route. You may please send the details towercyclingteam@gmail.com / harikudvaa@gmail.com

Ø All time stations will be unmanned, except the 22nd and 24th hour locations. There would be surprise check points on your way!!

Ø You can identify your own team with a name, make it fancy, make it exciting

Ø Teams from all over India will start on Saturday 21st April at 06:00 hrs and head to Mangalore and congregate at Summer Sands Beach Resort, Ullal for breakfast/brunch.

Ø Different teams cannot ride together. If several teams use the same starting point and the same route, the starting times for individual teams shall be spaced at least half an hour apart.

Ø Teams must have their location and time verified at the starting point and at each designated control.

Ø During the 22nd hour and at the end of the 24th hour, the exact time and the location of the team must be noted on each route card. A minimum of 25 kilometers must be ridden between both verifications.

Ø It is not necessary that teams reach their announced finish point or that they stop there. The recorded location at the end of the 24th hour will be recognized for their homologation.

Ø No following cars are allowed. Teams can meet a support car only at the rest stops.
