For those of you who have been craving a dose of beach through the winter, this walk is for you! Although a challenging walk at Grade 4, we can honestly say it is also the most rewarding. There is a tiny bit of rock hopping, and for the true adventurer in you we scale over a river holding onto a chain for support. This may seem daunting but your sense of accomplishment at the end will outweigh any doubts you may have!
Walking through a disused water channel, the trail hugs cliff faces until we reach Needles Beach, where will stop for a well deserved, and very yummy treat of scones, tea and coffee.
This walk is approximately 9km, and will challenge you in new ways if you are feeling comfortable with a grade 2, or even 3, walk. This is definitely one of the best shorter walks we do at Take Shape Adventures, and we are very excited to be sharing it with our community!
from Melbourne, take the Western Freeway past Bacchus Marsh and take the Pentland Hills Road exit. Look out for and follow the brown ‘Werribee Gorge State Park’ signs from the Highway.
You can also get there via the Iron-bark Road (Ballan-Ingliston Road) from Bacchus Marsh. The drive is approximately 1 hour from Melbourne’s CBD.
Date: Monday, October 30th, 10am-2pm
Our midweek walks are all within 80 minutes of Melbourne’s CBD, utilising some of our sensational urban green areas and parks, as well as locations that contain some of the best day walks near Melbourne, many of which are closer to home than you realise! The walks are of a slightly shorter duration and time than our weekend walks, and they are in the school term, making a quieter and more relaxing event. Walks will start at 10am to help with navigating Melbourne's traffic and potential kids drop-off. These walks are a great way to take some time out for you, getting fit and making friends in a non competitive and encouraging environment, our walks are generally women from 30-60 and we strongly encourage men to come along. Being active outdoors has proven results in mental health and wellbeing for everyone. We provide a healthy and nutritious snack and lunch, we strongly believe that sharing food under these circumstances is what makes friends grow.
