The GSA will host an information table for Day of Silence from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the lobbies of the Student Center on the WCSU Midtown campus, 181 White St. in Danbury and the Campus Center on the university's Westside campus, 43 Lake Ave. Extension in Danbury. Nearly four in five LGBTQ students don't see positive LGBTQ representation in their curriculum, nearly nine in 10 experience verbal harassment and almost one third miss school due to feeling unsafe or uncomfortable. Day of Silence is a national movement to highlight the silencing and erasure of LGBTQ students in school, which demands that school leaders take action to be more inclusive. Join us in taking a vow of silence for the day. The information table will have testimonials, zines, stickers and information about Day of Silence and GLSEN. Stop by to write why you are staying silent. For more information, visit www.glsen.org/day-silence or send an email to sabovik001@connect.wcsu.edu.
