From Columbus, Ohio, to Guerrero, Mexico, and countless cities in between, the opioid epidemic has ravaged communities on both sides of the border. But what about the lives behind the headlines and statistics? We'll view an episode of this timely, provocative five-episode docu-series from SHOWTIME® that spotlights the crisis through the eyes of those most affected: the growers, addicts, cartel bosses and law enforcement hopelessly caught in its web.
The screening will be followed by a panel discussion featuring Bexley resident Steven Staub, who was featured in the series discussing the death of his daughter Ashley; Chief Deputy Rick Minerd of the Franklin County Sheriff's Office; and Ahmed Hosni, interim program manager at Ohio State's Collegiate Recovery Community.
All guests are encouraged to head to Woody's Tavern at the Ohio Union for the NPHW Kick-Off, an evening of an evening of networking, food and refreshments at 8 PM.
This event is in collaboration with the College of Public Health, SHOWTIME, Collegiate Recovery Community (CRC), Public Health Student Leadership Council, Buckeyes for Public Health, Global Health Initiative, Public Health Graduate Student Association, Multicultural Public Health Student Association, Project Nicaragua, ENCompass.
