We, The Mycelium Underground open this weeks activities in collaboration with CoRenewal to set the stage for intermediate and applied mycoremediation techniques, training for those with some knowledge to join their efforts during this week. For the last 10 years, CoRenewal has conducted research and implemented bioremediation methods in the abandoned oil pits of Ecuador. In collaboration with local organizations, our team of experts examine the efficacy of various techniques for using fungi, bacteria and plants to clean up contaminated soil and water. We are so grateful they will be sharing and opening the platform for dedicated Earth healers to learn the skills needed to perform a wide range of remediative techniques.

Advanced MycoRenewal Course
August 6-9th

Space is limited & pre-registration is needed in order to attend

This is a four day immersion into the art and science of mycoremediation, where we will turn theory into action. We will go beyond cutting edge mycoremediation techniques, and study and practice what it takes for mycoremediation projects to become realities.

Topics will include:
Soil biogeochemistry
Sustainable fungal cultivation methods
Mycomimicry in theory and practice
Mycoremediation and environmental justice
Project management
Mycorrhizal fungi as remediators
Fungal enzyme assays
Organics recycling with fungi

We will also have break-out groups that will design potential future projects, and opportunities for engaging with existing projects.
This course is for bioremediators, mycologists, and ecologists who are ready to take their skills to a new level. If you’re new to the field of mycoremediation, you are welcome to apply but there will be required reading before the beginning of the course.

As we close this first portion of the week we
open our gates for the entire public sphere to participate in the full weekend activities

Three days of workshops, lectures & hands-on learning

A time and place where people can gather in the physical to re-energize, learn, exchange ideas, develop collaborations, and make connections, all with the spirit of reconnecting the disconnect in our culture, earth and communities. Although there is a focus on mycology, this event will be a platform for real change to take place and for people from diverse areas of expertise to learn from each other and to find common ground to solve real problems.

This event includes workshops & other hands-on learning experiences that encourage learning, idea-sharing, healing, research and creativity.

Topics include but not limited to
Mushroom cultivation (low & high tech)
Wild Mushroom Identification Fungal biology
Plant and Fungal journeying
Sex life of Fungi
(fill in the blank of specialized area) and how it overlaps with mycology
Myco-spirituality & mycopsychology

We structured the week so folks can have multitudes of options to choose from but still keeping it tight and not over-bearing to pick which class to attend. The main event and theme is indeed MYCO-themed but also opening it up to other disciplines.

We welcome people from all mushroom and Earth-based sciences to send us an application to share your skill sets, knowledge, studies and interests.

We welcome social justice organizations, organizers, community leaders, and others who fight for justice in human & animal rights, Earth defense, Pipeline resistance, gentrification and more. We will be accepting organizations & groups to table and share their info & work.

What to expect & policies:

Because we want to make this event accessible to all folks. Please know that when you do offer this contribution it goes towards, covering costs of food, kitchen, set-up, cleaning and of course offering a stipend for the people opening up their time and energy to teach and organize this amazing community event. We can’t keep this going is its not sustainable to, so please offer what you can. THANK YOU


This event offers 3 meals a day from 6-11th and 2 meals on the 12th. We WILL be catering to ALL meal types but please be clear on food allergies and intolerances when you register. Food is being prepped and cooked on site throughout the event.


Camping is included in the registration of the event and pre-weekend intensive

Please be READY for all weather conditions. Ticks live in the Hudson Valley !!
Bug repellent, tall socks, pants and hats are recommended. TICK CHECK DAILY!

Cancellation Policy

NO REFUNDS. Please consider this a donation if you do decide you can’t attend. Another option is to offer someone else in your place instead. Please notify us if you do want to swap names on your registry.
