Violinist Aleksey Semenenko will be giving a FREE masterclass on Friday, March 22 at 3pm.
Location: Whitworth University Music Building, Room 122
ALEKSEY SEMENENKO, VIOLIN
Ukrainian violinist Aleksey Semenenko is praised for passionate performances replete with “stunning technique and intonation, verve, wit, delicatesse, and beautiful phrasing” (The Boston Musical Intelligencer), as well as consistently demonstrating “an unparalleled level of refined musicianship and stage presence” (The Strad). This was evidenced in his triumph at the 2015 Queen Elisabeth Competition in Belgium, where he captured Second Prize and went on to perform Laureate concerts throughout Belgium with the Orchestre Philharmonique Royal de Liège in Liege, Brussels, Namur, Charleroi, Hasselt, and Antwerp, and with the Brussels Philharmonic in Bruges and Ghent.
When available, Symphony guest artists lead master classes for local students, and students throughout the region via videoconferencing. Advanced students are auditioned by a Symphony musician, and four are selected to play in the Master Class. This provides students with the opportunity to work with a world class artist. All auditionees will gain feedback from a professional adjudicator.
By making Master Classes open to the public, it gives attendees insight into the technique required to play the instrument as well as the personality of the artist. All Master Classes are held at Martin Woldson Theater at The Fox and most have free admission.
Those who wish to audition MUST submit a completed Master Class Application form with $10 Audition Fee payable to Spokane Symphony, short recommendation from private teacher (letter or email), and a copy of music for adjudicator. An accompanist strongly recommended except for piano auditions.
