Backbends are heart-opening asanas which improve spinal mobility and strength. They open up the whole body, especially the chest and lungs and strengthen the arms and shoulders.
They are uplifting and energising and help stimulate your nervous system. Backbends are also very therapeutic for asthma sufferers as well as back and shoulder pain.

This Workshop is suitable for all levels.
We will start with a warm up flow and then we'll get bendy together.

We'll be working toward and with the following:
- variations of wheel pose (urdhva dhanurasana).
- basic alignment and anatomical aspects of backbend asanas and explore the use of props for safer and deeper expressions.

(if we have time we might fit in a sneaky bit of ‘flipping the grip’ in poses like seated pigeon and dancers).
