Mike Purzycki - Mayor of the City of Wilmington's office is teaming up with Simon Eye Associates and VSP Vision Care Eyes of Hope to provide no-cost eye exams and, if prescribed, eyeglasses to eligible City residents.
The VSP Global Eyes of Hope mobile eye care clinic will be parked outside the William "Hicks" Anderson Community Center 501 North Madison Street, on Wednesday, April 11 and Thursday, April 12, 2018, from 9 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.
Two Simon Eye doctors will conduct FREE eye exams on each day, and VSP Global will provide eyeglasses at no cost to those individuals who were examined and found to be in need of corrective lenses.
The Mayor’s Office will schedule those community members most in need of eye exams. To qualify, an individual must have a family income within 200% of the federal poverty guidelines and must not have coverage for routine eye exams through private insurance or a government program.
If you think that you or someone you know is eligible, please contact Earl Cooper at (302) 576-2133 to prequalify and schedule an exam. The deadline is Thursday, April 5. Prequalified individuals will be asked to complete a personal health history prior to receiving their exam.
