For the past 30 years Simone Delaty has sown her 10 acres of land 18 miles southwest of Iowa City with flowers of every sort – both in the Gardens and the 5-acre reconstructed Tallgrass Prairie. Join us to hear about:
• the process of returning prairie to native flowers and grasses,
• planning a garden for annuals and perennials with a main focus on flowers for cutting,
• flowers and plants for attracting pollinators,
• and growing herbs and edible flowers for use in cooking.
A question and answer session will follow, so come prepared with your gardening queries and quandaries!
Simone Delaty is the former proprietor of Simone’s Plain and Simple, intimate farm to table dinners hosted at her farm, and is retired from a teaching career in French Language and Literature at the University of Iowa.
This event is free and open to the public. Please call 319-338-1332 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to reserve a seat.
Donations will be collected for R.A.R.E, a raptor rehabilitation organization serving the area.
