Hailing from Hartford CT - 'Stanger Strings' is a brother sister duo with a rich catologue of music stretching down home country harmonies to soul and R&B all wrapped into an acoustic package.
From their early teens, Dan and Kate Prado both immersed themselves in music as a form of self-expression. Bonding over classics like The Beatles and CSNY, their tastes diverged as Dan took up bass and cut his teeth on Red Hot Chile Peppers and Jimi Hendrix. Meanwhile, Kate was more heavily involved in vocal music and a Capella while learning to play chords strumming along to Jewel and Joni Mitchell.
Their paths both musical and otherwise intertwined infrequently over the next decade. Dan formed many different musical endeavors in Nothwestern CT over the years and continues to play guitar and sing for Collinsville’s bluegrass outfit The Goddamn River. Kate moved to the CT Shoreline and performed with local cover band ‘One Family Vibration’ before taking a hiatus from performing. Now, the pair have come together, 15+ years after they first picked up guitars, to blend their individual musical tastes and influences into the new project. Rooted deeply in both traditional folk and bluegrass ‘Stranger Strings’ is a satisfying blend of juicy vocal harmony and Dan’s expressive guitar that is not to be missed!
