Local historian Pearley Lachance will give a presentation at Winslow Public Library on Wednesday, April 11th at 3 p.m. about the pilgrimage taken by the Gold Star Mothers of World War I to the graves of their sons and husbands in Belgium, England, and France, with a focus on women from Maine who made the voyage. The U.S. government paid for and organized all the details of these trips. Historical artifacts related to this story will be on display. 2018 marks the one hundredth anniversary of the end of World War I, “the war to end all wars.”
