Women for Harding will host The Jane Austen Experience in conjunction with its national board meeting Friday, April 13. In addition to a Jane Austen-inspired tea, the afternoon’s and evening’s events include keynote speaker Dr. Stephanie Eddleman, associate professor of English and a Jane Austen scholar. More afternoon presentations feature the timeless influence of Jane Austen in food, note writing and gardening. Guests are encouraged to dress in period costumes for a dinner with Mr. Darcy followed by Harding Arts and Life presentation of “Wardrobes and Rings,” a visit between aging, legendary authors J.R.R. Tolkien and C.S. Lewis.
Eddleman, who has published numerous articles for the Jane Austen Society of North America, will open An Afternoon of Enlightenment, which includes pop-up shop vendors at the Meryton Market. Following the presentations, a tour of the First Ladies Garden will be available. Tickets start at $25, and a VIP Jane Austen package is $99.
