David Blackburn is an award-winning artist and woodworker whose museum-quality boxes, humidors, and jewelry boxes have been featured in Fine Woodworking magazine, Woodworkers Journal, and displayed in galleries including the Ojai Center for the Arts and Ventura's Red Brick Gallery. David is conducting a series of hands-on box-making classes at Woodcraft. Featured next is the Oval Desktop Box, approximately 13"w x 7"d, with a beautifully-curved profile and embellishments of fine and exotic hardwoods. Each box is unique and is carefully designed to showcase the natural texture, color, and grain of the woods and the precision of the joinery. David will take you through every step of the process from wood characteristics to design, construction, assembly, and finishing. All materials are provided. Class runs from 9:00am - 5:30pm on Saturday and may continue on Sunday from 11:00am until mid-afternoon - the pace of each class is unique.
Prerequisite: Moderate Woodworking Experience And Familiarity With Band Saw, Table Saw, Router, Planer, And Drum Sander.
