What: ASAP and The Sanctuaries are partnering to offer a workshop that will empower veteran artists to connect their artmaking with the social causes that affect them so they can “make art with purpose.” Specifically, participants will: (i) learn about how the arts have been used for social change in the past; (ii) explore strategic ways for using the arts to make social impact; (iii) reflect on the social issue that shape their own lives; and (iv) practice making art to address those social issues. By the end of the workshop, participants will have a deeper historical and strategic understanding of how the arts can make a difference, as well as a greater sense of clarity and confidence in the difference they seek to make in their own communities.
