LIONS CLUBS INTERNATIONAL
'Lions' and 'The World Health Organisation' (WHO) and others are working together to expand Diabetes education, prevention and control across the world, confronting this global health emergency by raising awareness of Diabetes through 'Strides’ events. The ‘WHO’ estimates that over 422 million people worldwide have Diabetes, a growing world epidemic that is expected to rise to 642 million by 2040. At present it contributes to 5 million deaths a year, making it the eighth leading cause of death in the world and the numbers are rising.
