Mindfulness means maintaining a moment-by-moment awareness of our thoughts, feelings, bodily sensations, and surrounding environment. We are often so preoccupied, thinking of something, worrying about the future or the past, that we put all our life on “automatic pilot”. By doing so, we are missing out on the richness of the everyday experience and the many small pleasures that ordinary life can bring. Mindfulness can help us learn to “quiet down” our busy minds. It can help us get better at noticing and accepting what we are experiencing, and dealing with our thoughts and emotions. As a mind-body approach, it can increase our ability to manage difficult situations and make wise choices. Benefits of practicing mindfulness include:

- Increased ability to be calm and relaxed;
- Increased control of emotions such as anger and anxiety;
