Join us for a day of practical activities designed to inspire the next generation and involve the local community in looking after the local environment. Family-friendly craft activities along with archaeology sessions on 'What our rubbish says about us' will run throughout the afternoon. Enjoy a slice of cake in our Riverside Cafe whilst browsing our pop-up charity shop, bringing you vintage treasures, big brands and great value threads screaming for an upcycle. Feel free to bring donations too.
Departing the hostel at 2pm, we're undertaking a clean-up of Derwent Water shore and surrounding woodland. Immerse yourself in stunning lakeside scenery and help us maintain its beauty.
The afternoon’s invite extends beyond the day’s volunteers to staying guests and local community. Relax and enjoy our family friendly cafe with an intimate acoustic session at 5pm from singer-songwriter Rory Cannon.
Rory’s atmospheric acoustic music and percussive, finger style guitar playing along with guitar looping creates a sound reminiscent of Damien Rice, Bon Iver, Ben Howard and Nick Drake.
Please note, gloves are needed, but litter picking sticks and refuse sacks provided. For more information tel: 01768 772484
