Pilates is smart exercise. It equips the brain as well as the body with knowledge and abilities that can be taken out of the studio and into everyday life. Every activity and sport, from gardening to golf and more, is improved with Pilates. And it's an important part of healthy aging.
The class focus is on core stability, pelvic and shoulder stabilization, neutral alignment and breathing.
If you want to increase stability, strength and flexibility without the spiritual component that comes with yoga, Pilates is for you! :)
No prior knowledge of Pilates is required. Karen Youso has been teaching dance and Pilates for 25 years. She is a gifted teacher and 'sees' each body brilliantly, teaching each student how to increase healthy range-of-motion and 'to strengthen what's weak and soften what's tense'. Pilates is a great partner exercise for yogis.
