Tightness in the quads, front of the hips and spine can limit us from practicing deeper backbends. In this workshop we will focus on freeing up the front and sides of the pelvis and strengthening the spine so that we can dive into safer and deeper backbends.
We will begin with a dynamic sequence of postures to create heat in the body, moving into specific asanas that will create mobility in the hip joint and open the front and sides of the pelvis. We will then move safely into a slower and precise sequence that will open the upper back. Releasing tension in the hips and opening the upper body will also help to balance the first, second and fourth Chakras, the energy centres responsible for our ability to respond to stress, creativity, adaptability, compassion and connection to our true selves. The practice will include pranayama (breath exercises), meditation and a long savasana session.
All levels welcome except complete beginners.
