In this walk, we will take on the East-West Trail in the You Yangs (Flinders Ranges)
If you are in need of an escape from the urban landscape and want to find yourself surrounded by stunning views then the You Yangs in the Flinders Ranges will be a dream come true. The East West Walk has been rated as one of the Top 10 Walks Around Melbourne.
Starting at the north end of the carpark the walk circumnavigates Flinders Peak, the highest Mountain in the You Yangs, allowing full panoramic views in every direction by the time you reach the summit. The walk is a gentle climb to the peak, where we will stop to enjoy an indulgent, but delicious bite to eat, with the backdrop of Melbourne's skyline.
As we navigate back down surrounded by the distinctive granite peaks of the You Yangs, you will be greeted with views of the volcanic plains between Melbourne and Geelong that make up this unique part of Victoria.

Getting there: You Yangs Regional Park is 55km southwest of the Melbourne CBD, taking around an hour to get there by car. Anyone from Geelong can expect to get to the You Yangs within half an hour.
Access to the park from the Princess Freeway is clearly signposted via Lara.
Our midweek walks are all within 80 minutes of Melbourne’s CBD, utilising some of our sensational urban green areas and parks as well as locations that contain some of the best day walks near Melbourne. The walks are of a slightly shorter duration and time than our weekend walks, and they are in school term, making a quieter and more relaxing event. Walks will start at 10 am to help with navigating Melbourne's traffic and potential kids drop-off. These walks are a great way to take some time out for you, getting fit and making friends in a non-competitive and encouraging environment, our walks are generally women from 30-60 and we strongly encourage men to come along as being active outdoors has proven results in mental health and wellbeing for everyone. We provide a healthy and nutritious snack and lunch. We strongly believe that sharing food under these circumstances is what makes friends grow.
