Tell Me That Story Again:
The Indigenous Tradition of Oral Storytelling

The YPT Drama School is pleased to welcome Lindy Kinoshameg from Wikwemikoong Unceded First Nation and Leslie McCue from Curve Lake First Nation to facilitate a series of Indigenous storytelling workshops that encompass respect, leadership and teamwork. Indigenous storytelling is deeply rooted in our connection with Mother Earth, the water, the plants, and animals. Participants will be invited to explore these themes through the telling of their own stories.

Indigenous educators Lindy and Leslie will highlight the importance of both sharing oral stories as well as showing respect and giving space to the speaker. Participants will be challenged to be active listeners as well as imaginative creators, developing their confidence, leadership and collaborative skills.

This workshop is recommended for students in Grades 5-8. There will be three sessions of two hours each.
