April continues to be a time filled with a celebration of the written and spoken word at Yuba Sutter Arts. The next “open mic” event for spoken word and poetry readings and other recitations will be held on April 5 at 6:30. The event is free and open to the public. The location will again be at the Burrows Theater at Yuba Sutter Arts. On April 19th, we’ll move to Yuba City with Justin’s Kitchen hosting the event.
The “Stand as 1” series is led by Yuba-Sutter Arts, Gabriel Gutierrez. At the March open mics, we heard original poetry and prose read and recited by local writers. Local residents including high school students participated in a safe and constructive environment.
“Many local writers have come to us over the past few months and asked us to create a local open mic series for the community,” said David Read, Executive Director Yuba Sutter Arts. “There is nothing like this in Yuba Sutter and folks would rather not have to drive to Sacramento,” he added.
The location for this “Stand as 1” is the Burrows Theater, 630 E Street, Marysville. Refreshments will be provided. Call 742-ARTS or visit yubasutterarts.org for details or just stop by.
