FAQs about baby massage:
What is the cost?
£75 for the 5-week course
How old does my baby have to be?
This course is for babies from birth to 1 year olds.
What to bring?
I will provide a mat, cushion and pillow to make you and your baby comfortable. I will also provide the massage oil.
Please bring a towel for your baby (that you don’t mind getting oily) and a spare nappy and change of clothes.
What happens if my baby is asleep?
Don’t worry if your baby is asleep when you arrive. You will get to try the massage out on a doll, enjoy the peace and your baby will wake up feeling refreshed so everyone will be happy! Tired babies or babies who are woken up for massage do not enjoy it and parents won’t either.
What happens during the session?
We will be following the IAIM (International Association of Infant Massage) course.
We will do 45 minutes or so of massage with your babies and then we will have refreshments followed by a discussion of any issues which have been on your mind. Some of the things we might discuss include: sleeping, feeding, relationships, going back to work, childcare etc…
But this is a chance to discuss something that you would like to talk about so I will be asking for your suggestions.
How will I remember what I’ve learnt when I get home?
I will be giving you handouts each week so you don’t have to memorise all the techniques you learn. If you practice with your baby between sessions, you’ll very quickly get used to all the different techniques and you’ll make your baby very happy at the same time! Also, baby massage is less about ‘getting it right’ – this is not therapeutic massage - and more about the connection you make with your baby whilst you’re doing it.
What are the benefits of baby massage?
