Educational Psychology at Illinois cover
Mission The scholarly and teaching missions of the Department of Educational Psychology are informed by two broad aims: (1) the study and application of psychological principles to develop educational interventions—collectively, faculty members realize this aim through basic and translational research that explores the cognitive, life-span developmental, social-emotional, and socio-cultural factors that affect behavior, learning, and achievement in educational contexts, and (2) research on approaches to educational inquiry and the development of quantitative, qualitative and evaluative methodologies that underpin the development of evidence-based, policy-relevant studies. The Department of Educational Psychology prepares doctoral students for professional careers as university professors, scientist-practitioners in the field of counseling, researchers, evaluators, and testing and measurement specialists.
