About Heather Barboza- Director:
Heather has worked as a Special Education Teacher in the Blue Valley School District for the past 10 years, and has a lifelong passion for the rights of people with disabilities. Her mother was disabled and she watched and learned as her mom fought for the right to be included and allowed access in a time when people with disabilities were not welcomed. She has an inspiring stepson who has taught her how people living with Autism can grow, change, and become productive, valued members of their community. They inspired her to pursue a Masters Degree in Special Education, and for the past decade, it has been her mission to be sure that all her students were loved, challenged and included. Emma’s Place is founded on her belief that parent partnerships are critical to every child’s success and that all children can achieve!
