|About||EFARD aims to strengthen the contribution of European AR4D actors to poverty alleviation, food security and sustainable development in developing countries|
EFARD’s mission is to provide a European multi-stakeholder platform of all relevant ARD stakeholders to promote more effective demand-driven and impact focused ARD through building partnerships, particularly with developing countries.
It follows the principles of the Global Forum on Agricultural Research (GFAR), and contributes to GFAR’s Global Plan of Action, in partnership with the other regional fora of GFAR. In particular, EFARD has an important advocacy role to play in maintaining agricultural research for development as highest priority in the political agendas at European and International levels.
As the European pillar of GFAR, it works in coordination with GFAR and other regional fora in actively supporting the Global Conference on Agricultural Research for Development (GCARD) process aiming to radically reshape agricultural innovation through mobilising a wider range of stakeholders to achieve results that are relevant to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). EFARD encourages and supports the implementation of activities embedded in the GCARD process.
The European Forum on Agricultural Research for Development (EFARD) aims to strengthen the contribution of European Agricultural Research for Development to poverty alleviation, food security, and sustainable development in developing countries by providing a platform for strategic dialogue among European stakeholder groups in order to promote research partnerships between European and Southern research communities.
