Conduct Amphibious Task Force, Maritime Prepositioning Force, Logistics Over The Shore, Defense Support of Civil Authorities and Emergency Sortie operations to support a full range of theater contingencies, ranging from humanitarian assistance and disaster relief to full combat operations.
-Provide expertise and advice on current and future amphibious warfare concepts, capabilities, tactics, techniques and procedures
-Identify and source capabilities in support of HHQ Tasking
-Provide amphibious support and planning to Commander, U.S. Third Fleet
-Oversee and coordinate the readiness, serviceability, integration and interoperability of assigned forces
Expeditionary Strike Group (ESG) THREE prepares all amphibious units for operations within 3rd Fleet and for deployments to 7th Fleet in support of operations worldwide.
ESG3 is a command element that consists of more than 13,500 Sailors and Marines in 24 commands with 13 ships.
