|About||Healthy Living, Youth Development & Social Responsibility|
The Family YMCA at Tarrytown is a nonprofit dedicated to youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
We improve the lives of children and adults in our community, regardless of ability to pay, by providing a unique combination of childcare, fitness and wellness, performing arts and affordable housing.
As you may know, the YMCA is a charitable organization. We believe our charitable efforts and the many services we provide to the underserved in our community are unmatched. We are also an open and inclusive organization: YMCAs are for people of all faiths, races, ages, abilities and incomes. We provide scholarships to large numbers of local children and their families, to single mothers, and an ever increasing number of local seniors. Last year, our YMCA awarded scholarships to over 350 individuals, who without our support would have been unable to take advantage of our programs and activities. These programs and activities include childcare, aquatics, Y Dance, Y Theatre, sports, recreation programs, after school programs in multiple school districts, and summer day camps.
We offer more group exercise classes - including ZUMBA, YOGA, PILATES, KETTLEBELLS, Y-PUMP , KICKBOXING AND A WIDE RANGE OF AEROBIC CONDITIONING CLASSES. Our programs truly make a difference in our community. Without the Family YMCA at Tarrytown, disabled children and adults in our area would not have an aquatic therapy, physical education and recreation program. Hundreds of families would be at a loss without our quality, affordable after school program, including Y Theatre at Washington Irving School in Tarrytown, and enriched summer camp. Senior Citizens would be more isolated and have less opportunity to participate in supervised, age-appropriate physical fitness programs, including use of our fitness center and swimming pool. Forty-eight men could possibly still be homeless without our intervention and residential program.
