Mission: To improve the safety and lower to risk of injury to motorcycle flat track participants
Why is Safety in Such a Bad Place in Flat Track:
#1. Because no sanctioning body has taken on the responsibility of comprehensively and systematically improving safety in the sport. They are afraid of the potential legal liabilities of making specific recommendations and rules.
#2. Promoters have not led any broad movements in safety improvements.
#3. In a general sense, riders and parents have not pursued substantial safety improvements on their own volition, and in fact, have allowed the few safety standards that existed before to no longer be followed.
#4. Safety gear manufacturers have not identified a viable business opportunity to research, develop and sell safety gear meeting the demands of flat track racing.
In summary, the major entities involved in the sport have chosen to be passive or indifferent to the subject of safety. There has been a severe lack of leadership in this area.
