The Friends of Buckhorn State Park is a volunteer organization created to promote and support the goals and mission of the park. The group raises money to support park projects by selling firewood in the park and offering canoe/kayak/bike rentals.
The Friends of Buckhorn State Park volunteers help with many projects including the annual park photography contest, park clean up days, and candlelight hikes. The Friends volunteers also split firewood to be sold in the park and provide canoes and kayak rentals for park visitors. The money raised from selling firewood as well as the canoe and kayak rentals are used to fund larger projects such as the amphitheater, the cold water rinse shower, new picnic grills, and tree plantings in the beach area.
