The above hours are for the Visitor Center. The Refuge gates are open from sunrise until sunset. The Refuge entrance fee is $5 per vehicle or motorcycle.
The mission of the US Fish & Wildlife Service and its Refuges is to administer a national network of lands and waters for the conservation, management, and where appropriate, restoration of the fish, wildlife, and plant resources and their habitats within the United States for the benefit of present and future generations of Americans.
In the Visitor's Center you will find maps, pamphlets, wildlife displays and our Nature Store. We can give you information about birding spots and were to find good local seafood or southern cooking.
The Friends group was organized in 1987. We have a Friend's Agreement with the Refuge and the US Fish & Wildlife Service.
